Poetry + Art Workshop: Erasure as Poetic Dialogue
(Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)
Plagued by stress, fatigue and increased screen time-many artists and writers feel blocked. Drawing from both poetry and visual art, erasure as a poetic form can be a great way to unlock the mind and express what you didn't know you wanted (or needed) to say.
This workshop will include a brief lecture on the rich history of erasure before jumping in and getting your hands dirty with exercises that use found materials such as newspapers, novels, handbooks, travel guides, etc. Participants will also visit and draw inspiration from exhibits on view at the MSU Broad Art Museum and Art Lab galleries.
After the workshop, participants will hold a reading of their work, led by instructor poet, educator and interdisciplinary artist Jennifer Sperry Steinorth. Cost of registration ($45) covers all materials and instruction. Held at the Art Lab, located directly across the street from the museum at 565 E Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI 48823 more information...
