Disability Ecologies: The Art of Living on a Disabled Planet  (Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)

Dive deeper into the issues surrounding water scarcity as depicted in the exhibition LaToya Ruby Frazier: Flint Is Family In Three Acts. This online participatory workshop will explore the idea of disabled ecologies, which scholar Sunaura Taylor defines as "the webs of disability that are created spatially, temporally, and across species boundaries when ecosystems are contaminated, depleted, and profoundly altered." This event is hosted by HIVES, an ongoing scholarly, artistic, and communal organization dedicated to developing an understanding of the ways in which matter and beings function in interdependent networks. This year HIVES is thinking about water justice as it flows into conversations on disability and neurodivergence.

This event will take place on Zoom. Registration for this free online event is required. Register here.

Disability Ecologies: The Art of Living on a Disabled Planet is presented in relation to LaToya Ruby Frazier: Flint Is Family In Three Acts, on view through Jan. 29, 2023 at the MSU Broad Art Museum.
