Planning for Mid-Semester Feedback

This workshop is designed to equip MSU educators with the tools and strategies to effectively plan for and implement mid-semester feedback. By focusing on formative feedback, transparent course design, and data-driven decision-making, participants will learn how to enhance their teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
This course is intended for any MSU Educator in collaboration with EDLI. Join us for this comprehensive workshop to enhance your ability to plan for and utilize mid-semester feedback, fostering a more responsive and effective teaching approach that benefits both educators and students
Topics Covered:
Formative Feedback: Understand the role of formative feedback in the learning process. Explore various techniques for gathering mid-semester feedback from students and learn how to use this feedback to make timely and effective improvements to your teaching.
Transparent Course Design: Learn how to design courses that clearly communicate expectations, objectives, and assessment criteria. Discover strategies to ensure students understand how their feedback will be used to enhance the course.
Data Collection: Gain insights into effective methods for collecting qualitative and quantitative feedback data. Learn about tools and techniques for efficiently gathering and organizing student feedback
Data Interpretation: Develop skills in analyzing feedback data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement. Learn how to interpret data to make informed decisions about course adjustments.
Pedagogical Flexibility: Explore strategies for maintaining pedagogical flexibility. Learn how to adapt your teaching methods and course content based on mid-semester feedback to better meet the needs of your students.

Upon completion of this learning experience participants will be able to:
Adapt an existing mid-semester feedback protocol to the specific needs of your course and develop a mid-semester feedback plan tailored to your courses.
Interpret mid-semester feedback data to identify patterns and actionable insights, using these findings to inform and refine teaching practices and course design.
Adapt pedagogically flexible strategies that integrate transparent course design principles, enabling course adjustments based on student feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
