A Practical Guide to Transparent Assignment Design  (Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)

In this session, you will be introduced to the concept of Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) and the Transparent Assignment Design (TAD) framework. This evidence-based teaching method has been shown to drastically reduce student late submissions, instructor grading time, and student frustration while significantly increasing the quality of student submissions. You will learn about the relationship between transparency and equity in learning, the key elements of a transparent assignment, and how to design an assignment using the TAD framework.

Upon completion of this learning experience, participants will be able to:

Define the concept of alignment as it pertains to curriculum design and development.
Write appropriately stated learning objectives using best practices (e.g., learning taxonomy).
Suggest course materials and assessments that are aligned with learning objectives.
Evaluate various parts of a course for alignment.
Attendees are encouraged to bring an existing assignment you would like to rework into a transparent assignment framework.

Registration is required. There are 18 in-person seats available. There are 199 online seats available.
