Understanding AI in your pedagogical practice  (Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)

This workshop is designed to equip MSU educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the evolving educational landscape shaped by generative AI. Participants will explore the multifaceted impact of AI on teaching and learning, and develop strategies to integrate AI into their courses effectively while addressing both opportunities and challenges.

This course is intended for Educators, instructors, and support staff involved with the design, development, and delivery of courses

Topics Covered:

1. Using AI to Enhance Teaching:
Discover how to leverage AI tools to improve teaching practices, streamline administrative tasks, and personalize student learning experiences.

2. Teaching About AI Within Your Discipline:
Learn how to incorporate AI topics into your curriculum, regardless of your discipline, ensuring students understand the relevance and implications of AI in their field of study.

3. Guiding Student Use of AI:
Explore ways to guide students in the ethical and effective use of AI technologies to support their learning and research efforts.

4. Addressing Student Misuse of AI:
Understand the potential risks and challenges associated with AI misuse by students, and develop strategies to mitigate these issues through clear guidelines and proactive monitoring.

5. Creating AI Policies for Your Class:
Learn how to create and implement comprehensive AI policies in your course syllabus, addressing acceptable use, academic integrity, and the role of AI in assessments and assignments.

Upon completion of this learning experience participants will be able to:
