At the end of the presentation the attendee will be better able to: 1. Understand major findings and recommendations from the Institute of Medicine and other patient safety calls-to-action; 2. Understand medical error genesis and mitigation strategies; 3. Understand basic principles of safety science methods; 4. Appreciate the challenges and benefits inherent in attaining a culture of safety in health care; and 5. List safety strategies that can be employed in yoru patient care teaching and practice.
