Year of Global Africa: Eye on Africa - Author, Clemantine Wamariya
(Public Programs) Clemantine Wamariya is a storyteller, public speaker, social entrepreneur and human rights advocate. Born in Kigali, Rwanda, displaced by conflict, Wamariya migrated throughout seven African countries as a child. At age 12, she was granted asylum in the United States and went on to receive a BA in comparative literature from Yale University. Wamariya now uses stories drawn from her experiences to catalyze change and create community. Wamariya will speak about her new book, "The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After." There will be a question and answer period and an opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed by the author.
